"Aton's sun" - 2010
Why is it strange? This painting is not mine... at least not really.
One night while I was in dreamland, I was putting the finishing touches to an exhibition (even when I sleep and rest I am still working) so I was, as I said, in the process of surveying the various exhibition halls, checking the lighting and the placement of my paintings. Their familiar presence in these large rooms reassured me.
But something was bothering me. A presence, an interference, a light, something that is seen out of the corner of the eye without being able to put a name on it.
I followed this light... it enthroned itself alone in one of the rooms, like an apparition it seemed to be floating, "The Aton sun "!!
I still remember that in the dream I was looking for an explanation of where it came from, whose was it?
I admired this painting, this sun, in the middle of my exhibition, without knowing where it came from. It was as if it had just materialized there. What a strange feeling to watch your own creation without realising that it was you who created it.
I found the painting mesmerizing, I knew I was in a dream and I asked myself "how am I going bring it back to reality", "If I don't get it out of this dream it would be destroyed when I wake up". I therefore stood transfixed for what seemed to me like hours. I memorized "The Aton sun, every curve, every colour, every shade... telling myself, "Amo, do not forget this painting! You will paint it when you wake up". It was like I was giving myself an order.
And when I woke up...
So here is this painting "Aton's sun", which I did brought back from the land of dreams to our reality.
And now when I look at it, knowing where it comes from, I feel as if it has voyaged through the universe to appear today before my eyes.
Unless it is still just a dream...
Aton the sun gives out its beneficent rays...
