In this series of works created using stencils, the artist explores the tension between control and spontaneity.
Black and white give structure to the composition, while bursts of color disrupt it. Figurative elements appear and then dissolve into abstraction. Through layering, fragmentation, and contrast, the image becomes a dialogue between the real and the imaginary.

“Hope” – An Ode to Freedom
The work becomes an allegory of a universal woman—almost a contemporary Marianne—embodying all those who have been hindered, silenced, and confined within visible or invisible structures.
The concrete background symbolizes the harshness of the human world: cold, rigid, mineral. In contrast, the lush jungle emerges as an indomitable organic force. Life persists. It pushes through the cracks. It refuses to give in.
The chains break.
The statue shatters.
And from the heart of the fracture, light, color, and energy burst forth.
This duality—the constrained gray set against vibrant organic life—structures the composition. It conveys the tension between oppression and resilience, confinement and emancipation.

Amaury Dubois continues his artistic exploration through a collection of stencil works in which figurative art engages in a dialogue with abstraction.
Precise, recognizable figures in black and white serve as anchor points before being intersected by a free and expressive multicolored abstraction.

About the Art of Stenciling
